This tutorial was written by me on March 6 2004. Any similarities between this and any other tutorial online are purely coincidental

This tutorial was written in PSP7 but I believe it would work with any version

You will need a picture of yourself or someone (or a pet) you wish to use as your subject

You will need my oval mask which you can download here Unzip it in your masks folder of your PSP

Open the picture that you want to use in your PSP

Click Shift D to make a copy (don't want to spoil the original:) Close the original and work with the copy

Click Colors/Grey scale

Click Colors/ increase color depth to 16 million colors

Click Effects/Artistic Effects Pencil

Apply the following settings

You can play with the settings till you have something you like:)

Now get your Retouch tool (looks like a hand)

Select Soften set as follows

Soften some of the shading as desired

Add a new layer

Flood fill this layer with white (or the color you wish to use as your background)

Click Masks/Load from disk

Find the mona_oval mask and apply

Click Masks/invert

Click Masks/Delete

Answer yes to the question in the popup

You can now add a layer with your name on it

Click Layers/Merge all

 

You are finished:)

Save it as JPG
